This online module aims to provide interpreters with an understanding of what chuchotage is as well as when and how this essential interpreting mode is applied in community settings. Chuchotage 1 Module also provides interpreters with an opportunity to practise basic simultaneous interpreting techniques through practical exercises.
Under the current NAATI Certification system, professional interpreters are required to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of the simultaneous (chuchotage) mode. This online module aims to provide interpreters with an understanding of what chuchotage is as well as when and how this essential interpreting mode is applied in community settings. Chuchotage 1 Module also provides interpreters with an opportunity to practise basic simultaneous interpreting techniques through practical exercises.

This module would be useful for all interpreters working in community settings at the CPI and CI level, who wish to develop a sound theoretical and practical foundation for practising chuchotage.
Anna Kenny, NSW Health Care Interpreter Services Professional Development Coordinator
Anna Kenny is a Polish Interpreter and a Professional Development Coordinator with the NSW Health Care Interpreter Services. Anna was born and educated in Poland. She graduated from Warsaw University with a Masters Degree in English Philology in 1991. In 2012 Anna obtained a Masters Degree in Interpreting and Translation Pedagogy from Macquarie University, Sydney.
Anna has worked for HCIS for over 25 years. In her current position, she coordinates and facilitates training for health care interpreters across NSW. She has also taught interpreting at Macquarie University, developed medical interpreting resources for RMIT and facilitated several AUSIT seminars on medical interpreting and ethics.
Anna is a recipient of the 2018 AUSIT excellence award for Outstanding Contribution to Translation and Interpreting.

A Certificate will be issued upon completion of the course. Learners will be eligible to 10 PD points towards recertification (Section 1.4 of NAATI Recertification PD Catalogue).
